Dark Tales of

Magic and Madness

AVAILABLE NOW!

The stories you remember were never quite this dark.

Familiar fairy tales, folklore, nursery rhymes, and literary classics are reimagined through modern fears, complicated characters, and unexpected perspectives.

From Humpty Dumpty recast through the shadow of Jack the Ripper to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde reframed through the fear of losing yourself to the very thing meant to quiet your mind, Dark Tales of Magic and Madness finds something unsettling hiding inside the stories we thought we knew.

Old tales. New shadows. No promise of happily ever after.

Bookshelf display featuring the book "Dark Tales of Magic and Madness" by H.N. Baird with a dark, mystical cover design, a back cover with author biography, and fairy tale-inspired decorative elements surrounding it.

Three familiar stories.

Three fractured minds.

INSIDE THE COLLECTION

Fairy tales, nursery rhymes, and literary classics are cracked open and reassembled through obsession, fear, anxiety, and madness. Meet three of the voices waiting inside Dark Tales of Magic and Madness.

Humphrey Dunn

Dark, gothic scene featuring a cracked mirror reflecting a shadowy cityscape with a man holding a knife, surrounded by bloodied items, a bloody newspaper, a candle, flowers, and a bloodstained top hat, with streetlamps and a spooky atmosphere.

Nursery rhyme becomes nightmare.

A familiar fall takes a darker turn through the gaslit streets of Whitechapel, where madness, murder, and a fractured mind blur together.

Inspired by “Humpty Dumpty.”

Mr. Hyde

A digital artwork featuring two women in profile inside a gold ornate mirror, surrounded by flowers, feathers, a lit candle, a clock, a potion bottle labeled 'Mr Hyde,' and mystical elements, with one woman appearing calm and the other dark and mysterious.

What if becoming better means losing yourself?

You want the fear to quiet. But what if silencing the darkness means silencing part of yourself, too?

Inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson’s Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

The Alluring Rapunzel

An ornate, decorative mirror frame featuring a fairy tale scene with a castle, a princess on a tower, and a knight on a horse against a moonlit sky, surrounded by flowers, ribbons, and lanterns.

Perhaps the tower wasn’t the strangest part of the story.

A prince wandering alone through the woods finds a woman imprisoned in a tower with no doors and decides, quite reasonably, that climbing her hair is the obvious solution.

Some beautiful things are designed to lure you closer.

Not every fairy tale survives the retelling.
